- Trip flexibility: Pineville supports a short loop; connected-system riding can consume a full day.

Machine Trip Notes
Pinnacle Creek supports SxS/UTVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes at the system level. Full-size ORVs are not supported here; Hatfield-McCoy’s current ORV rule limits them to Bearwallow, Cabwaylingo, and Ivy Branch. The official system page lists single track as 8%; that is not SxS mileage. Pinnacle Creek connects with Warrior, Indian Ridge, and Pocahontas, so plan the day’s route and fuel around the portion of the network your group intends to ride. Use the current official map and obey posted signs, closures, direction, and vehicle restrictions. System-level eligibility does not open every route.

Best Home-Base Towns
Pineville: simplest trailhead base
The staffed trailhead, food, fuel, and lodging access make Pineville the cleanest first-time base.
- Best tradeoff: shortest trailhead logistics and easy resupply.

Mullens: alternate town-access base
Mullens offers another community-access option and can work for riders combining local services with longer connected routes.

Ashland: four-system trip base
Ashland is practical when Indian Ridge and the wider connected network matter more than being beside the Pineville trailhead.

Sequence: 10 → 14 → 15 → 16 → signed return toward 10
A green/blue planning concept for confident families. Confirm direction and every junction on the current map; allow several hours with overlook stops.
3. Connected-system day
Sequence: Trail 10 spine → current signed connector toward Indian Ridge or Warrior → reverse before fuel or daylight margin is used
Choose one neighboring system, not all three. Pineville is the dependable bailout and resupply point.
